urban

and while jacqueline takes care of beach blogging (via smoke signal) this week, i'll be on top of urban blogging.

i am in new york city, where i usually am.

and two nights ago i went to a poetry reading to see dave and mark doty read at kgb bar and right when i got there this dude was like "i am taking pictures of girls with good style for jane magazine" and i said yeah he could take my picture, so he took my picture and then i went down to the atm on the corner to take out money (i had no money for beer), and came back and the reading had started and i was like "oh shit" and i stood in the doorway (it was really crowded) and listened and then the photographer dude handed me a release form to sign with some questions on it (typical women's mag ridiculousness) and i filled it out really fast and here's what it looked like (except more illegible):

what's the craziest thing that has happened tonight?
dave is reading

what's in your bag?
my scarf

what music do you listen to while you're getting dressed to go out?
chris corsano

what is the most random thing you think might happen tonight?
meh

so i hand the survey back to the guy, and he starts to walk downstairs to the exit, and i try to slip quietly back into the poetry reading, but THEN i hear the photographer guy running back up the stairs and i see him motion to me so i come back out and he says "you wrote chris corsano? i'm friends with chris corsano! i went to no fun fest this weekend!" i tried to give him a high-five but he didn't seem to understand. awesome.

okay, i have work to do.

just one more thing: i found myself listening to the one iron maiden song on my ipod this morning, repeatedly, and feeling very moved by it. so, can anyone recommend any other metal jams i ought to dl (preferably funny ones). i know you're reading this, people who sort of like metal.

love,
amy

since this is clearly directed at me, let me take this opportunity to introduce you to the wonderful world of iron maiden. i would recommend anything off their first album with singer bruce dickinson, the modern classic "the number of the beast." it has it all: galloping riffs, an epic sound, and subject matter ranging from vikings to victorian harlots to the plight of native americans.
