"it was cool, but still kind of sucky."

the ups of yesterday included spring fling, delicious snacks, falling down a dirt hill on my bike, emily getting dissed by a blind kid, mount eerie (the tickets themselves were enough to make it an up), riding bikes, new friends, babysitting, and watching zoolander.

i just jacked a bunch of music from patrick and bought some on itunes. amy, patty and i went to see this guy don lennon thursday that you probably would have really liked. his first album is all about parties, and his second album is all about his first album. he didn't crack a smile the whole set, yet we were all dying laughing.

don't talk to me for 10 years.

shoshonna's got a real job, dag don't you know?

last night i went to my parents' apt to show them the movie (armadillo nocturne, mhm). and my dad told me some stuff that explains a lot of stuff. ultimately it's good because my parents are finally being honest with me, but at the same time it's disturbing because on a superficial level, it was easier not to know about the shit that was going down, and it's hard to hear about how much pain and difficulty all this generated for the last, shit, 20 years? but at least now i understand... and i guess i'm pretty angry at both my dad and my mom for not being open about it with me until last night.

anyway, i'm sorry that was really vague. i just needed to type it somewhere, i haven't actually confessed the details to more than a couple people, so don't feel left out if you have no idea what i'm talking about.

now let me move on to a new topic, something more light-hearted, and more interesting for you, dear reader: de la soul.

oh man. they are amazing. i don't know why i thought 3 feet high was their only good album (ummm actually i do know why: because allmusic.com is consistantly wrong). but i just got ...is dead the other day and it owns.

how can you write a song better than "bitties in the BK lounge?" you can't. and if you think about the history of music, you'll realize that nobody has done it yet.

at the tisch

is it a little strange that the tisch library of tufts university has the lightning bolt dvd?

i should really talk to the programmers that made the search program for the library database. it really isn't user friendly for those of us who don't quite know what we would like to watch. although, sometimes this fact makes finding a gem the highlight of your already awesome day.

hopes and dreams

1. if i ever (god forbid) got really sick and was granted a wish by that organization, i would wish to explore the tunnels of the NYC subway system with david byrne and missy elliott.

2. i think i'm starting an indie pop band. tiernan, learn how to play something, k?

i danced with the claims and you danced with the fish you danced with the fish

HEY GUYS

i'm having a BEAT HAPPENING DANCE PARTY in the next few weeks at my friend mike's house in queens.

rewind review

arwen really is the one needing to get her bike blessed. she crashed again.

last night emily and i spent a considerable amount talking about film and about music reviews. i mentioned how proud i am of you amy that you wrote that thing. it's good and i'm glad to read your opinion on it.

at the end of the conversation emily says "i really want to and should call amy." and i said "i know. me too."

blessed bikes, decade transcending

tomorrow is the blessing of the bikes at the cathedral of st. john the divine.

for real! http://www.gothamist.com/archives/2006/04/21/bless_your_bike.php

but i can't go because i'll be on long island, at joe del senno's grandmother's house, acting in a movie about something. that takes place in some decade. it might be the 30s. it might be the 50s. it might be the 60s, or the 70s. all i know is i'm bringing clothes from all of those decades to long island. on the midnight train.

wtf.

traaaaaade shirts

ten things that have happened recently/ are happening/ will happen:

1. chris missed his flight to germany yesterday, is (hopefully?) catching another flight today.
2. my bathroom is being renovated and the bathroom sink is in the kitchen, there is no door and no walls and no tiles on the floor, and there is also no shower head and (sometimes) no hot water. i found out that i am permitted to shower in the pizza place downstairs, but have not taken my landlord up on this offer, yet.
3. despite all this, i had a dinner party. spinach pie and baklava for eight. also: baba ganoush. yes, some people had to sit on the floor, and two people sat on the radiator. dinner party ended with a walk to the skee ball bar.
4. i bought a case of beer at the brooklyn brewery (cheap!). see "dinner party," above.
5. tonight i'm making passover food with my mom.
6. the weather got nice! i took a lot of walks. and it turns out it's not such a long walk to the "cool" part of williamsburg. also, it turns out there are at least three used clothing stores in between my part and the cool part, which i will list from worst to best name: alterations, antique clothing, pirate supplies.
7. i went to a mets game.
8. i almost got caught sitting in somebody's hammock on somebody's roof.
9. i might take a trip to providence.
10. dinner with adam, who (somehow) i haven't seen in ages.

stop this car, i'm getting out.

wow. life has been crazy. i've spent the better part of the last day watching tv, relaxing, drinking beer and fantasizing about sewing/crafting.

this is my new jam. embroidery. sushi. yay!

amy, i really want to visit you sometime when my life isn't crazy and nuts. i can't come next weekend, or the weekend after, so maybe the weekend after! or maybe i'll go to chicago that weekend! woooooo.

you are so stupid and cool.

i kind of just want to start a blog with pointless phrases that are funny, but don't really mean anything or hold any type of truth.

something like

"yep, i pooped in your sink."

and

"life is like cabbage."

or

"see you next tuesday."

lisa knows a girl who's been abused, it changed her philosophy in '82

hey remember belle & sebastian?

i haven't thought about them in a while but i was listening to them last night and it made me think of two summers ago when we were at emily good's cabin up by rochester and tigermilk was on the car stereo the whole time, and the beginning of that album reminds me of tying the kayaks to the top of the car and driving to the lake.

if it stops snowing, i'm going to the mets game tonight. it will be the first major league baseball game i've gone to (i once saw a minor league game. both teams were named after birds; i forget which birds).

and alexis is coming to visit! it's too bad i don't have a couch for her to sleep on.

hey! it's springtime.

i just found out my rent-paying protocol involves giving an envelope of money to the guys at the pizza place downstairs. awesome.

today we might take the ferry to staten island to eat goat, depending on the weather.

i'm making spanikopeta (spelling?) this weekend to lure people out to bushwick. that means you.

work is all right. things are pretty good! i would not mind having a puppy.

that's about it.
